Bratislava

Bratislava is the capital and the largest city of Slovakia with a population more than 430.000 people.The city is located in southwestern Slovakia on the boreders with Hungary and Austria on both banks of the Danube River. Bratislava has a continental climate with four distinct seasons. Many landmarks and historical buidings are locaket in the old town. Bratislava's Town Hall is a complex of three buildings and is a host to the Bratislava City Museum. The oldest town building is Michael's Gate preserved from the medieval fortifications.The centre of Bratislava is characterised by many baroque palaces like The Grassalkovich Palace, the Primate's Palace, the Archiepiscopal Palace. The city also has many churches and cethedrals like the Gothic St. Martin's Cathedral, the Franciscan Church, the Church of St. Elisabeth. The most famous modern landmark of Bratislava is Nový Most bridge with UFO restaurant on top. Above the city is Kamzík TV Tower with an observation deck and rotating restaurant. Bratislava Castle is located on the Little Carpathians hill directly above the Danube river in the middle of Bratislava. Devín Castle lies on top of a rock where the Morava River, which forms the border between Austria and Slovakia, enters the Danube. Bratislava has many parks and lakes. Close to the city is wide green forests. Bratislava's zoological park is located in Mlynská dolina, near the headquarters of Slovak Television. There are many cultural buidings, theatres and museums. Some of them are the Slovak National Theatre, the Arena Theatre, the Slovak National Museum, the Bratislava City Museum, the Slovak National Gallery, Bratislava City Gallery and many more.
