Brugge

Brugge is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders of Belgium and it is located in the northwest of the country.The city population is more than 117,000 people.The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Bruges has most of its medieval architecture intact which are the Church of Our Lady world's highest brick tower/building, the sculpture Madonna and Child is believed to be Michelangelo's only sculpture to have left Italy within his lifetime. Most famous landmark is 13th-century belfry with 48 bells. Other interesting landmarks are the Beguinage is a collection of small buildings used by Beguines, the Basilica of the Holy Blood, the modern Concert Building, the Saint Salvator's Cathedral, the Groeningemuseum, The Old St-John's Hospital, the City Hall on the Burg square, the Provincial Court. The city has many theatres and concert halls such as Aquariustheater, Biekorf, Concertgebouw ("Concert Building"), De Dijk, De Werf, Het Entrepot, Joseph Ryelandtzaal, Magdalenazaal, Sirkeltheater, Stadsschouwburg, Studio Hall. Bruges has dozen of museums devided in to Municipal and Non-municipal museums. Briges is rich with Musical festivals, Musical cultural festivals, Cultural or food festivals. Bruges has a significant economic importance thanks to its port and at one time, it was the "chief commercial city" of the world.
