Ečka
Ečka is a village located in the Zrenjanin municipality, in the Central Banat District of Serbia. It is situated in the autonomous province of Vojvodina. The village has a Serb ethnic majority and its population numbering 4,513 people (2002 census).
In Serbian, the village is known as Ečka in Romanian as Ecica Română, in German as Deutsch-Etschka, and in Hungarian as Écska.The village was merged with former settlement known as Mala Ečka in Serbian, Alt Etschka in German, and Román-Écska or Olahécska in Hungarian.
For many years, „Kaštel“ was a centre of hunters’ gatherings, where people were coming from both Serbia and abroad. Austro – Hungarian crown prince Franz Ferdinand and Serbian crown prince Aleksandar Karađorđević also used to visit and stay in the castle.World War II and war destruction did not spare “Kaštel”, as well, and owners left it for good and went to the USA.
Since 1990s, the “Kaštel” castle has been under protection of Institute for Cultural Monuments.

Kastel Ecka Hunting Manor
The “Kaštel” castle is situated about 60 kilometres north from Belgrade and only 7 kilometres away from Zrenjanin, in Ečka village. It was built in the English style. The constructing lasted from 1816 till 1820. The castle was built by the Lazar family and at the official opening ceremony, on August 28, 1820, Franz Liszt, a famous violinist, played.
Nowadays, this old edifice has been completely redecorated and adapted, so that today it is a hotel that can offer its guests unforgettable...
