The building where the hotel is placed is a XVIII century’s palace and used to be the residence of Cardinal Sisto Riario Sforza, the last Bishop of the Bourbon Kingdom of Naples who lived in that apartment for more than 30 years, from 1845 to 1877. Since he became Naples bishop, he was the the last bishop of the “Two Sicilies Kingdom” and the first one in Italian Kingdom. Because of its historical relevance, the palace is under Neapolitan cultural assets administration. From its glorious past, today the building still keeps intact some beautiful structural elements, such as the wood gate, large stairs, high ceilings with rafters or groin vaults and big wood windows. In the common areas of the hotel you can find typical Neapolitan tiled floors with ancient pieces of hand-painted “maiolica”, a luxurious Baroque-style hall with painted ceiling and all walls covered with mirrors and golden “stuccos”. Moreover, in some rooms there are high ceilings with wood hand-painted rafters, groin vaults or coffer ceilings and precious period pieces of furniture. Decumani Hotel de Charme is the First Cultural Hotel of Naples. It means that our permanent guest is the cultural event. SHARED AREAS FACILITIES Hall: a large room with wood rafter ceiling all finely restaured, 2 balconies with high windows, 3 double-seat sofas, 1 large reception desk, 1 information desk for guests, 1 lift gate, 1 exit door on the stairs, 1 door getting at saloon, rooms and terrace. Breakfast and Reading Saloon: wonderful XVIII century’s hall with mirrors and golden stuccos, with an area of about 120 square meters and 9 mt high hand painted ceiling. Breakfast is served at a buffet with the help of the staff for hot drinks (coffee, tea, cappuccino, etc.) Continental breakfast offers: briosches, cakes, crispy bread, corn flakes, muesli, cereals, butter, jam, hazelnut and chocolate cream, yogurt, bread, cheese, salami, fresh fruit, juices, orange squash, milk, coffee, cappuccino, flavoured tea, sparkling and still water. Furnished with period pieces, grand piano, sofas.. our saloon is the best place to relax listening some classical music or having a tea, reading a book or using a laptop PC with free Wi Fi internet access. The saloon can be used even for cultural events (concerts, art exhibitions, books presentations..) where our guests will take part for free. Terrace: overlooking the typical Neapolitan narrow street. In Summer time it’s available for breakfast or just to relax sitting in open air at any time. It will be opened in June 2011. Santa Chiara cloister, Gesù Nuovo church, San Severo Chapel with its wonderful “Veiled Christ sculpture”, Spaccanapoli and San Gregorio Armeno street with the famous “presepe-nativity Christ's” workshops, Underground Naples (deep galleries under the city), S.Domenico Maggiore Church, the Duomo, Art Contemporany Museum Madre, Archaeological Nacional Museum, Diocesano Museum are just few of the attraction you can easily reach by foot in less than 10 minutes from our hotel. Moreover, the area is full of famous restaurants, traditional “pizzeria”, bars, literary cafes and clubs, live music pubs and several handicrafts shops. Our staff is at your disposal for advise and booking of tables in the restaurants nearby, which offer special services and discounts for our kind guests. Right in a few minutes walk from the hotel you can even reach one of the main streets in Naples for shopping: Corso Umberto, where our guests can find lots of different kinds of shops. In maximum 15 minutes walk, our guests can reach Maschio Angioino Castle, Plebiscito Square with the Royal Palace, the beautiful Umberto I Gallery and the main Opera Royal Theater “San Carlo”.
