Krakow
Krakow is the second largest and one of the oldest cities in Poland. City lies on the Vistula River and is one of the leading centres of Polish academic, cultural and artistic life. When the Nazy Germany invaded Poland, at the start od the World War II, they established general government and created walled zone known as the Kraków Ghetto for Jewish population. Kraków has an Oceanic climate with average temperatures in summer range from 18 °C to to 19.6 °C and in winter from −2.1 °C to 0 °C. Krakow has more than 750.000 inhabitants. Most of the population are Slovaks followed by Ukrainians, Jews, Armenians and Romani people. Kraków is one of Poland's most important economic centers. Major landmarks include the Main Market Square with St. Mary's Basilica and the Sukiennice Cloth Hall, the Wawel Castle, the National Art Museum, the Zygmunt Bell at the Wawel Cathedral, and the medieval St Florian's Gate with the Barbican along the Royal Coronation Route. The city has several famous theatres, including the Narodowy Stary Teatr (the National Old Theatre), the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre, the Bagatela Theatre, the Ludowy Theatre, the Groteska Theatre of Puppetry, the Opera Krakowska and Kraków Operetta. There are many gardens, parks and forests in Kraków such as Planty Park, Botanical Garden, Park Krakowski, Jordan Park, Błonia Park and Strzelecki Park. Kraków is known as the city of churches with 48 Roman Catholicism Churches, 10 Kingdom Hall for Jehovah's Witnesses, 8 Protestantism churches, 5 Buddhism Tempels and one Polish Orthodox Church, Polish Catholic Church, Mariavite Church.
