Split
Split is the largest Dalmatian city in Republic of Croatia with area of 63 km2 and population more than 220,000. The city is located on the shores of the Adriatic Sea and it's one of the oldest cities in the area.Split has a Mediterranean climate; hot, relatively dry summers and mild, wet winters. July is the hottest month, with an average high temperature around 30°C and january is the coldest month, with an average low temperature around 10°C. Split is moust famous for it's palace builded by Roman Emperor Diocletian in 305 AD and he gave the name Diocletian's Palace.Split is also the hometown of Marko Marulić, a classic Croatian author. The great influence on Split and the Dalmatia had Italy. Some italian word are used in language spoken in Dalmatia. Split has several cultural places like the Archaeological Museum, the Split City Museum,the Ethnographical Museum,the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments, the Croatian Maritime Museum, Split Science museum and Zoo, the Gallery of Fine Arts and the Ivan Meštrović Gallery.
