Austria

Austria officially called the Republic of Austria is a country with approximately 8.3 million people. It is surrounded by the Czech Republic and Germany to the north, Slovakia and Hungary to the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west. Because of the Apls the climate of the country is alpine. Austria is a federal republic so it is divided into nine states. German is the official language of the country and the language of the majority. Vienna is the capital and the largest city with a population of more than 1.6 million inhabitants. Austria has been a member of the United Nations since 1955, joined the European Union in 1995. and is a founder of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development). The country is the 12th richest in the world and the curency is euro. The Central Eastern Alps, Northern Limestone Alps and Southern Limestone Alps are all partly in Austria that makes the country famous for its winter resorts and winter sports such as alpine skiing which is the most popular, snowboarding, ski-jumping. Other also famous sports in Austria is football and ice hockey.
