Cambodia officially known as the Kingdom of Cambodia is located in the southern portion of the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. It has a population of over 14.8 million people and the official religion is Buddhism. The country minority groups include Vietnamese, Chinese, Chams and 20 various hill tribes. The capital, political, economic, cultural, and diplomatic center of Cambodia is Phnom Penh. Cambodia's climate is dominated by monsoons, which are known as tropical wet and dry because of the distinctly marked seasonal differences. Cambodia has two distinct seasons. The rainy season, which runs from May to October and is generally accompanied with high humidity and the dry season lasts from November to April. The textile industry is the main source of hard currency. The tourism is the second with more than 2 million visitors mostly are Japanese, Chinese, Americans, South Koreans and French people. The main attractions for foreign tourists are the Angkor Wat historical park in Siem Reap province, the beaches in Sihanoukville and the capital city Phnom Penh. Cambodia has great culture with music and dance. Cambodian dance can be divided into three main categories: Khmer classical dance, folk dance, and social dances. Traditional Cambodian music dates back as far as the Khmer Empire and Royal dances like the Apsara Dance are icons of the Cambodian culture.
