St. Johann in Tirol is a market town in Austria and has a population of around 10,000 inhabitants. St. Johann lies in a valley basin between the mountain range of the Wilder Kaiser and mountain called the Kitzbüheler Horn in the centre of the district of Kitzbühel and has a cool and humid climate. The town is consist of numerous hamlets such as Hinterkaiser, Fricking, Weiberndorf, Almdorf, Hinterkaiser, Apfeldorf, Bärnstetten, Berglehen, Mitterndorf, Taxa, Weitau, Niederhofen, Oberhofen, Scheffau, Reitham, Rettenbach, Sperten, Winkl Schattseite, Winkl Sonnseite. St. Johann is conectet with roads and railways with Salzburg and other larger city's and even has an airport for smaller and lighter aircrafts and gliders. Most important branches of industry in the area are tourism and the hospitality trade. There is a great variety of hotels, restaurants, camping sites and discothèques and it is an important tourist centre with impressive ski-slopes and related facilities. St. Johann has a museum of local history and in the same building you can find the local gallery. There is also an alpine museum called Oberhofenweg. Other landmarks of the town are the the St. Nikolaus church in Weitau, the the Antonius chapel, parish church and town centre. St. Johannis a host to several event such as Koasalauf which is one of the biggest cross-country races, Jaggasn - summer night festival, UCI cycling race of the seniors and a festival celebrating dumplings.
