Mykonos

Mykonos is a Greek island lying between Paros Tinos, Naxos and Syros, part of the Cyclades with population around 10.000 people. Mykonos is one of the most cosmopolitan islands in Greece mostly known for it's nightlife with vast number of bars and nightclubs. It is a frequent destination for cruise ships and it has it's own international airport. The island is best known for it's beaches. According to the legend Mykonos was the place where the battle between Zeus and the Titans took place. Famous island landmarks are Petros the Pelican which is an old celebrity of the town's waterfront and the Petros is the official mascot of Mykonos. Mykonos windmills are one of the most recognized landmarks of the island. Paraportiani is one of the most famous architectural structures in Greece. Archaeological Museum contains houses marble sculptures, ceramics and jewellery recovered from the islands of Delos, Renia and Mykonos. Aegean Maritime Museum displays models of a collection of ships from the pre-Minoan period and nautical and ancient artifacts related to the history of shipping on Mykonos. Little Venice is the colorful neighborhood with the wooden balconies “hanging” above the sea with bars and cafes that give on to the most beautiful sunset in all Greece.
